長めの丈でギャザーのゆったりとした分量感が存在感に溢れるフォルム。長めのハーフスリーブをくしゃりとひとつ折りあげて生地のしわといっしょに楽しんでください。
The long length and the relaxed gathers create a form that overflows with presence. Enjoy folding up the long half sleeves and enjoying the creases in the fabric.
普通であれば、美しい縫製とかっちりした仕立てで、生地の上質さを愛でるシャツにするところを、リネンコードを裾やプラケットにトリミングして、目一杯のパッカリングも縫い皺もおかまいなしに締め上げた私達のSTANDARD。
Normally, we would have made this shirt with beautiful sewing and tight tailoring, and loved the quality of the fabric, but we trimmed the hems and plackets with linen cords, and tightened our STANDARD without regard to excessive puckering or wrinkling.
生地はHerdmans社が紡績したフランス産のリネンを日本国内で織り上げたもの。Herdmans社の歴史は高級リネンの代名詞として最上級の証の「アイリッシュリネン」の歴史です。今でもリネンのロールスロイスと称された歴史を継ぐ、世界最高品質のリネン糸を生み出しています。その徹底した素材と製品管理技術の差は、写真のように比較すれば一目瞭然です。
The fabric is made from French linen spun by Herdmans and woven in Japan. Herdmans’ history is the history of “Irish linen”, a byword for high-quality linen and a sign of the highest quality. Even today, they continue their history as the Rolls Royce of linen, producing the world’s highest quality linen yarn. The difference in their thorough materials and product management techniques is obvious when you compare them in the photos.
フランス産のflaxから紡がれた同じ番手の糸。右側がHerdmansです。この毛羽の少なさ。これはflaxから糸を作るハックリングという工程で分けられる長繊維(1亜)と短繊維(2亜)の短繊維を、Herdmansは使用しないためです。一般的なリネンにはこの短繊維が混ぜ込まれます。
Yarns of the same count spun from French flax. The right side is Herdmans. This is the lack of fluff. This is because Herdmans does not use short fibers, which are divided into long fibers (1 subfiber) and short fibers (2 subfibers) in the process called “hackling” to make yarn from flax. The short fibers are blended into common linen.
だから安価なリネンは、最初は綺麗でも着用と洗濯を繰り返して行くと、毛羽だらけになり、色褪せた顔つきに直ぐになります。安価なカシミヤやメリノウールのニットが、着る前は綺麗でも直ぐに毛玉だらけになるのと同じです。Herdmansは今も、この工程で原料の40%程度を使用せずロスするため、価格は高価なものとなります。しかしそれは変え難い意味のあるものです。
So, inexpensive linen may start out clean, but after repeated wear and washing, it will quickly become fluffier and faded looking.
Just as inexpensive cashmere or merino wool knitwear may be beautiful before it is worn, but it will soon become pilled.
Herdmans still loses about 40% of its raw materials in this process, making it expensive. But it is a meaningful process that is hard to change.
フロントのデザインは、クラシックなドレスシャツ由来のイカ胸(Starched Bosom)のディティールをアレンジしたひねりの効いたもの。
The front design is a twist on the classic dress shirt-derived Starched Bosom detail.
フランスのアンティークスモックを2枚はぎ合わせたALTERATIONから着想を得た、左胸はピンタック、右胸はラウンドしたパネルを配したアシンメトリーなデザイン。
Inspired by ALTERATION, which is made by sewing together two antique French smocks, this asymmetrical design features pintucks on the left chest and a rounded panel on the right chest.
ボタンはフランスのvintageのガラスボタン。形や穴の数の異なるものをランダムに選んだ味のあるもの。
The buttons are French vintage glass buttons. The buttons are tastefully selected randomly with different shapes and number of holes.
台襟の内側やプラケットの裏もリネン糸のハンドステッチ。表にポツポツと頭だけをのぞかせる、表情豊かな小さなステッチ。
The inside of the collar and the back of the placket are hand stitched with linen thread. Small, expressive stitches that peek out from the outside.
ステッチの無いリラックスした柔らかな印象のスクウェアな衿。
Relaxed, soft, square collar with no stitching.
深く切れ上がるヘムのサイドライン。急な曲線を巻き込んだうねりはもっと表情豊かに風にたなびく裾まわりを作り出してくれました。
The side lines of the hems cut up deeply. The steep curves of the swells create a more expressive hemline that flutters in the wind.
手縫いで付けたガゼット。
Hand-stitched gusset.
肩も脇も袋縫い。ステッチを表に出さない為の少し面倒な工夫です。
Both shoulders and sides are bag sewn. This is a slightly troublesome device to keep the stitches from showing.
今もこれからも新しく古びない、洗い晒しがつくるしわ。ただ、きれいなだけじゃなく、ラフなだけでもない。
言葉にできない味のあるもの。
Wrinkles created by washed and bleached clothes, which are new and will never get old, now and in the future. It is not just beautiful or rough.
It is something with a taste that cannot be put into words.
