フランスではレジャーやスポーツとしてのハンティングは、サッカーに次ぐほどの人気を持つ競技だと言われています。

狩猟免許を持つ人数が120万人以上（ほとんど男性）というのは、狩猟免許取得資格のある、16歳以上のフランス男性の約5%に相当し、サッカー愛好者の220万人に次ぐ人数で、テニス愛好者の110万人よりも多いのです。

In France, hunting as a leisure and sporting activity is said to be the second most popular sport after soccer.

More than 1.2 million people (mostly men) have hunting licenses, which is about 5% of all French men over the age of 16 who are eligible for a hunting license, second only to the 2.2 million soccer enthusiasts and higher than the 1.1 million tennis enthusiasts.

かつてはハンティングは、貴族などの特権階級と裕福な層の為の娯楽であり、生活の糧を得るための仕事として猟をする猟師以外の普通の人々にとっては、贅沢な遊びでした。しかし時代の流れとともに近代になってからは、徐々に幅広く楽しまれるようになりました。

Hunting used to be a pastime for the privileged and wealthy, such as the aristocracy, and a luxurious pastime for ordinary people other than hunters who hunted as a way of earning a living. However, with the passage of time, hunting gradually became widely enjoyed in the modern era.

80年ほど前のフランスのハンティングジャケットです。まだハンティングが高級な趣味だった時代に、工場での大量生産ではなく、テーラーで注文仕立てで作られた物。高機能と高性能を追い求め、化学繊維とファスナーとvelcroで構成された現代のハンティングウェアが捨て去ったものが、たくさん残っていた頃のジャケットです。

This is a French hunting jacket from about 80 years ago. It was made by tailors to order, not mass-produced in factories, at a time when hunting was still a high-class hobby.　In the pursuit of high functionality and high performance, modern hunting clothes made of synthetic fibers, fasteners and velcro.

This jacket is from a time when there was a lot left over that modern hunting wear has discarded.

ハンティングのオフシーズンとも言える春に向けて仕立てられたリネン生地のハンティングジャケット。まだ素朴さが残る手動織機の物と思われる生地は、中肉のキャンバスに近いしっかりした密度とはりのあるもの。

A hunting jacket made of linen fabric tailored for spring, which can be said to be the off-season for hunting. The fabric, which still looks rustic and seems to be made on a manual loom, has a firm, dense, and resilient texture, almost like a medium-woven canvas.

フラックスの素の色が年月で変化したベージュの奥深い色合い。

元からあったボタンホールの糸を解いて、リネンコードでかがり直すとともに、ボタンホールを新たに作り2倍の数にして、ズラリと並ぶボタンがクラシックでありながらモダンで迫力のある表情を作り出します。

The original buttonholes are unraveled and re-covered with linen cords, and new buttonholes are created, doubling the number of buttonholes, creating a classic, yet modern and powerful look.

犬、馬、鹿、猪、狐、狼。狩る側と獲物が入り混じったヴィンテージの動物レリーフボタン。

Vintageボタンの中でも1番人気が高く、1つがビッグマック2個分ぐらいが相場のフランスのハンティングジャケットに使われていたボタン。あえて様々な素材と、いろんな動物のモチーフをランダムに選んで縫い付けています。

These buttons are the most popular among Vintage buttons and were used for French hunting jackets, where one button is equivalent to two Big Macs. Various materials and motifs of animals are randomly selected and sewn on.

アトリエコートやワークジャケットにも、実用性や機能性を満たす為だけなら、必要のない装飾的な要素を忘れないモード発祥の国フランスらしく、金型をわざわざ作ってボタンに動物のモチーフを刻みこんでいます。。少し塗装が剥がれたり、色のくすみがあったりするボタンには、このジャケットに刻まれた70年近い時間の痕跡が刻み込まれています。

As is typical of France, the birthplace of the mode, where decorative elements are not forgotten in atelier coats and work jackets if only to satisfy practicality and functionality, molds are deliberately made and animal motifs are engraved on the buttons. 一旦解体してダメージを補修するとともに、細かなステッチを入れたアンティークリネンにえりの裏側を変更しています。

Once dismantled, the damage was repaired and the back side of the gable was changed to antique linen with fine stitching.

フランスの古い仕立てのジャケットによく用いられる、背中側に流れる肩線の仕立て。肩の部分がバイアス生地使いのようになり、肩への沿いが良く、動きやすくなるとともに、柔らかな印象の肩になります。前身頃も着た時に立体的な膨らみをうむ、ゆるい曲線を描くヘムになっています。

A shoulder line that runs down the back of the jacket, often used in old French tailored jackets. The shoulders are made of a bias fabric, which allows for better shoulder alignment and ease of movement, as well as a softer shoulder impression. The front also has a loose curved hem that creates a three-dimensional fullness when worn.

ダメージに上から生地をのせてpatchするのではなく、象嵌細工のように生地をくり抜きながらモザイク状に生地をpatchしていくフランス独特のpatch work=travail de patchで描き出した象嵌模様。

The inlaid pattern is drawn by a unique French patch work (travail de patch), in which the fabric is patched in a mosaic-like pattern by hollowing out the fabric like inlay work, rather than patched by placing the fabric on top of the damage.

ヘムのラインを少し削って、軽く柔らかな印象を加えています。

The hemlines are slightly shaved to add a light, soft look.

腕の形に沿って曲線を描く袖。フランスならではのテーラードの基本に則った立体的なパターンで仕立てられたジャケットは、ハンティングの為につくられた機能性だけではなく、フランスのエスプリ精神と美しさと力強さに溢れています。

The sleeves curve along the shape of the arm. The jacket, tailored with a three-dimensional pattern in accordance with the basics of French tailoring, is not only functional and made for hunting, but also overflows with the spirit of French esprit, beauty, and strength.

擦り切れたり破れたりダメージの大きかった右袖口、左右の前身頃には、様々なvintageから取り出したリネン生地を使った丹念な手縫によるPatch補修を行いました。

The right cuff and left and right fronts, which were heavily damaged by fraying and tearing, were repaired with patch repairs by careful hand-stitching using linen fabrics from various vintage sources.

袖を解体した際に、ダメージの激しかったタブを生地の使い方を工夫して新たに作り直しました。

When the sleeves were dismantled, the tabs that had been severely damaged were reworked anew with a new use of fabric.

古い裏地を外し、内側に溜まった埃を取り除き、手でまつりつけたライナーの生地と色のコントラストや、リネンコードで留め付けた縫い皺の作るふくよかな味わいが、古着にまとわりつく不潔感を消し去り、さらに古着につきまとう重い印象を払拭し、現代的な印象へと変化させる要素です。

The contrast of the fabric and color of the liner, which is removed from the old lining, cleaned of dust that has accumulated on the inside, and hand-fastened, and the plump taste created by the stitching creases fastened with linen cords, are elements that remove the clinging filthiness of old clothes, dispel the heavy impression attached to old clothes, and transform them into a modern impression. liningの取り付けと裾まわりの手の仕事。生地を丹念に縫い止めたステッチの手仕事ゆえの自然な乱れは豊かな趣を与える時間の結晶です。

背中にはゲームポケット。ポケット開口部のダメージを手入れするとともに、ゲームポケットの袋布も取り外して作り替えました。年月とともにポケットに溜まった埃や汚れなど得体の知れない厄介者も捨て去ることもALTERATIONの一歩です。
